Of course I refuse to use steroidal creams...I know I can beat this with natural remedies. So, for the past week I took to the internet and have been researching natural remedies... sea salt baths, shea butter massages...tomorrow I'm going out to by an aloe plant! However, these only provide temporary relief. The most important information that I seem to forget, like
most of us, is you get out what you put in...meaning diet is a key factor. Raw foods, fiber, foods high in omega 3 fatty acids and vitamins A and E help to combat against eczema flare ups; whereas foods with additives, refined sugars are culprits in skin disorder inflammation.
Additionally, exercise and reducing stress are key in fighting skin disorders. They release toxins and reduce inflammations.
I still don't know what triggered my flare up but having it has allowed me the opportunity to remember that diet, exercise, mental balance and health are all connected.
So for the next couple of days, I'll be trying to eat better, exercise more and stop stressing about so must to relieve my Itchy Scratchy!
Wish me luck....
The amazing thing about our skin is it’s a complex organ. Most people are perplexed when skin is refereed to as an organ but it’s actually the largest organ of the integumentary system. Five years ago, for reasons still unknown to me I developed eczema and psoriasis. I do not get the typical flare ups on my face, chest and neck. I do get patches of dermatitis between my fingers. Also, I periodically suffer from psoriasis of the nails. Of course, my dermatologist cannot pinpoint what exacerbates the psoriasis or eczema.
ReplyDeleteI concur that homeopathic remedies should be the initial approach to resolving flare ups. To wit, Mother Nature provides remedies to combat most human illnesses/diseases/conditions.
Sadly, environmental factors do play a role as well...this may be part of you developing psoriasis/eczema. Air quality is so poor in metro areas with the overwhelming release of toxins into the atmosphere. I am considering moving to a corn field to hide from the toxins that I see blanketing my area. (can we push a little harder for biofuels?)
